James “Jim” H. Russo

Age 86, of Plum, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. Beloved husband of 61 years to Eleanor (Jonnotti); father of James C. (Mary Lynn) Russo, Rick (Susie) Russo, Gina (Joseph) Sonafelt, and Vincent Russo; grandfather of Antonette, Marissa, John, Joseph, Jr., Emma, Isabella, and Sheridan; brother of Lucille Russo, Carmen Michael Russo, Dolores Moore, and the late Frank Russo, Gloria Bisceglia, and Joseph Russo.

James was proud to be a drill sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of J. Rick Excavating Company for over 55 years out the Penn Hills area. He was a former member of the Plum Planning Commission and a proud 1952 graduate of “Seneca” Penn Hills High School where he played high school football.

Of Export, formerly of Penn Hills, suddenly passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019. Beloved father of Laura (Bob) Bendtsen, Debra (Ron) Akerley and Amy (Dom) Pollaro; loving and adoring grandfather of Miranda and Alex Akerley, Jimmy and Bella Bendtsen, Bailey, Aubrey and Mia Pollaro. David W. Taylor

Age 65, of Penn Hills, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Marian H. Sleighter; brother of Timothy Taylor, Donald (Valerie) Taylor, Carol (John) Garofolo; also survived by niece Sydney Garofolo and several other nieces and nephews.

Marian H. Sleighter

Age 64, of Penn Hills, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019. Wife of the late David W. Taylor and the late Richard Sleighter; sister of Joseph (Gloria) and Josephine (late Carl Takacs) Hatalla; aunt of Steven and John (Tammie) Hatalla, Andrea (Joe) Lamatrice, and Kathryn (John Whigham) Freddo; also survived by great nieces and nephews. Stanley W. Sawinski Jr.

66 of Greensburg died Thursday February 21, 2019 in UPMC Shadyside.  He was born August 21, 1952 in Greensburg a son of the late Stanley W. Sawinski Sr. and Anna Marie (Folino) Sawinski.  He was currently employed as a Funeral Director at the William F. Gross Funeral Home in Penn Hills and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Army.  He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, its Holy Name Society and was a Eucharistic Minister.  He was also a member of the Allegheny County Funeral Directors Association and enjoyed family events especially with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, a nephew John Sawinski and his ex wife Beth Jackson.  He is survived by his son Mark Sawinski and his wife Kristin of Jeannette, three beloved grandchildren Keriann, Brianna and Mason, three brothers Ernest Sawinski and his wife Cindy of North Ridgeville, OH, Anthony Sawinski and his wife Karyl of Cresson and Joseph Sawinski and his wife Debbie of Center Twp, numerous nieces and nephews, his girlfriend Candice Kreutzman and her children Kelli Komondor and husband Rob and Jamie D'Hert and her husband Paul.  Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church with Fr.
