Carol A. Masterson

Age 62, of Monroeville, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024. Daughter of the late Frank and Marjorie Masterson; beloved mother of Nicholas Masterson. She was a longtime loyal employee of PNC Bank. Carol loved her cats, sitting poolside in the summer, vacations to Florida, good dinners, and frequent visits to the nail and tanning salon.

Michele Miro

Age 64, of Penn Hills, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Daughter of the late Michael A. and Lucy (Simeone) Miro; granddaughter of the late Lucia Simeone; sister of Sandra (the late Richard) McKenzie, Linda (Bruce) Dean, and Marlene (David, Jr.) Sachs; aunt of Jimmy, Dana, Michael, Bobby, Kristen, and Crystal. James Patrick Moloney

A beloved father/grandfather and retired Penn Hills K-9 Police Officer passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the age of 84. Son of the late Joseph and Willa Moloney; husband of Lucille (Palumbo) Moloney and the late Louise (Pompelio); beloved father of Maureen (Keith) Gamble, Colleen (James) Joyce, and Christine (Michael) Powers; special father of Susan (Jeff) Litzinger, Sandra McDade, and Julie (Stephen) Kundrat; brother of Judith Roberts and the late Roger, Mary Margaret, Joan, and Phillip; grandfather of Marissa (Jessalyn) Penvose, Kyle Powers, and James Joyce, Jr.; special grandfather of Jennifer, Ryan, Megan, Taylor, and Krysten; great-pap to Dallas, Tristan, Tatum, Beckham, Callum, Rayven, and Baby Cienna James. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Patrick served in the U.S. Navy and became a Penn Hills Police Officer, where he was recognized in 1982 as Policeman of the Year. He was active in the North American Police Work Dog Association (N.A.P.W.D.A.) as a Master Trainer, where he held multiple offices including President.

After 27 years of service on the Penn Hills Police Department he retired and started Moloney’s K-9 Academy in 1990. There he continued to serve local communities, and his country, with Search and Rescue and obedience training. He also assisted in various areas of police work with many police departments throughout the United States. Additional volunteer work included public relations for the K-9 Corps, girls’ basketball coaching for St. John the Baptist School, and numerous activities for his church.

Barbara L. “Barb” Gelpi

Age 86, of Penn Hills, securely went into the arms of her Savior surrounded by her family Wednesday, March 20, 2024. Beloved wife of 65 years to Aldo I. Gelpi; loving mother of Debra “Debbie” (Martin “Marty”) Mathieu, Bernard “Bernie” (Carla) Gelpi, James “Jim” (Theresa “Terri”) Gelpi, and Jeffrey “Jeff” (Regina “Gina”) Gelpi; Nonne of Brittany (A.J.) Kryzosiak, Alan (Lauren) Mathieu, Joseph (Wendy Yu), Domenic (Mariah Irons), Natalie (Bryan Boyer), Vincent “Vinnie” (Jessica Flowers), Jeremy (Grace), Ethan (Kayla), and Justin (Autumn Rodericks) Gelpi; great-nonne of Drew, Paige, Aly, Lucy, Antonio, Chase, Jackson, and Theodore; sister of James (Cindy) Lowe and the late Dorothy, Betty, and Robert. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She worked for a few years in the accounting division of Westinghouse where she met the love of her life. After she married, she found her true passion in life being a stay at home mother to her children. She was an avid Steeler fan and enjoyed a good game of cards. “We love you dearly, yes we do”.

Connie “Columba” DelleFemine

Age 88, of Verona, passed away Saturday March 9, 2024. Wife of the late Michael P DelleFemine; mother of Joseph (Kimberly), Bernice (Kenneth) Kula and the late Michael (surviving Marietta) DelleFemine; grandmother of Marina (Liam) Holmes, Michael D. DelleFemine, Mario (Tosha) DelleFemine; great-grandmother of Elijah, Athena, Ezra, Aspen Holmes, Mason and Ryder DelleFemine; sister of Dorothy (the late Joe) Pronio and the late Muffie (Sam) DeStefano, Dom (Ursula), Bill (Helen), Armand (Irene) Bergamasco; sister-in law of the late Anthony (Sandy), Jerry (surviving Lucille) DelleFemine; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Connie enjoyed volunteering at the St Gerard Majella Church Fish Fry and was an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed working at the Penn Hills Senior Center adult daycare. Columba was famous for her Italian cooking, especially her eggplant, pasta and wedding soup. She touched the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
