"Why is a funeral important?"

A funeral is a celebration of the life of your loved one. It is necessary to view the remains of a loved one to make the passing a reality. It is also necessary to help us with the grief process. Throughout history, the funeral was the only safe place to grieve in public. The funeral home provides a safe place to grieve.

Somehow society has diminished the importance of a death. They try to keep it sterile and out of site and quickly dispose of the remains. By doing that, we tend to invalidate the life of the person who has passed away.

A funeral should be something meaningful. That does not mean expensive. A family typically spends 4-5 times more on a wedding than on a funeral. A favorite book thoughtfully placed. Good stories among the family and friends who call in the presence of the deceased. A photoboard with happy memories. These are what make a funeral meaningful.

Whether you have a religious service at our funeral home or at your place of worship or a service with a funeral celebrant and a non-religious affiliation, you are acknowledging the life of someone who you dearly loved.

The best way to handle grief....is to grieve.  And celebrate. Acknowledge the life and accomplishments of your loved one. Share the memories with family and friends. It will be an experience that you will cherish and will live in the memories of family and friends forever.
