Jean A. Ireland

Age 93, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Friday, July 28, 2023. Beloved wife of Robert W. Ireland, Sr.; mother of Colleen (the late Fred Murock) Ireland, Patricia Ireland, Mary Beth (Jim) Held, Robert (Laurie) Ireland, Jr., Cathleen (Mark) Zilner, Jennifer (David Solomon) Ireland; grandmother of Scott Koss, Joshua (Caitlin) Ireland, James (Karli) Held, Haley Held, Liam Kress, Hayden Zilner; great-grandmother of Benjamin, Edison, Nora and Hugo; also survived by dear cousin William Valentine, nieces and nephews.

Jeanie was a 1951 Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing Graduate. Her true passion in life, aside from raising her family, was nursing. She had a remarkable career spanning from Pittsburgh Hospital to private duty nursing and retirement from Presbyterian Senior Care.

Daniel Thomas Fitzhenry, Esq.

Age 67, of Penn Hills, formerly of North Huntingdon Twp., Westmoreland County, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023. Born on August 7, 1955, son of the late John F. and Mary Elizabeth (Weisgerber) Fitzhenry.

Beloved husband of Diane (Gionta) Fitzhenry; loving father of David John of Penn Hills and Daniel Patrick (Jillian) of Stephen’s City, VA.; proud grandfather of Mariah Lynn, Benjamin Robert, and David Liam Fitzhenry, with a new grandson due in December 2023; loving companion to two loyal beagles – Lucky and Romeo; brother of Kristina Hoffman; brother-in-law of Ann Marie (George) Stover of Plum and Pat (John) Winklmann of Healy, AK. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Dan was a practicing attorney having graduated from Duquesne Law School. He also holds a Master of Public Administration and Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dan was a part-time adjunct professor at Point Park University. He was a member of the Penn Hills Zoning Hearing Board since 1982 and a chairperson for 32+ years.

Dan worked in emergency services since the 1970s – first in North Huntingdon then in Penn Hills. In 1981, he became the Allegheny County EMS Coordinator until 1988 at which time he worked at Forbes Regional Hospital/Allegheny University Health System as director of EMS/Prehospital Services.

He was a forming member and Deputy Commander of PA-1 DMAT, part of the National Disaster Medical System and continued working as an intermittent federal employee under the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services. He served in these capacities at several major disasters across the country – World Trade Center, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, Border Reunification, and the Covid-19 pandemic to name a few.

Dan was a Norwin Class of 1973 graduate. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed boating.

Dan was an Eagle Scout and continued scouting with his sons, who are both Eagle Scouts. He served in many capacities including Troop Committee Chair for former Troop #7139 – Verona/Penn Hills.

Joseph V. “JP” Pizzuti

Age 79, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Thursday, July 6, 2023. Beloved husband of 57 years to Marlene (Phillips); father of Joseph (Joanna) Pizzuti, MSgt, Ret. and Anthony (Candice) Pizzuti, PhD; grandfather of Jennifer, Morgan, AJ, Rachel, Cody, Tyler, and Jillian; great-grandfather of Ben and Fynn. Also survived by siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved fur babies. Joe was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He started his career in the Insurance Industry and pursued his passion as a keyboardist and band leader, shaping the Pittsburgh music scene during the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. The next chapter of his life, he was focused on his family and community where he had an involvement with St. Bartholomew and Central Catholic Athletic Department, a bus driver for Penn Hills School District and coached many kids in the Penn Hills Baseball Association. Joe enjoyed working for PPG Paints Arena for over 20 years. His passion was spending time with family and friends and was loved and will be deeply missed by all. Nino Donatucci

Age 88, of Penn Hills, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Dina Donatucci; father of Frank C. (Andrea) Donatucci and Cynthia Donatucci; grandfather of Eddie, Marc, Taylor, Gabriella and Gianna. Nino was the last remaining of six siblings to his late parents, Domenic and Maria Donatucci. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James William “Jimmy” DiNatale

72 of Pittsburgh, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Jimmy was born on July 7, 1950 to Emanuel V. and Virginia “Jean” DiNatale in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Peabody High School in 1968, he went on to study cosmetology at the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. Jimmy is survived by his 3 sons, Emanuel (Kelly), James and Nicholas; his grandchildren, Kara, Emanuel Jr, and Kaitlyn; his siblings, Blaise (Dianne) DiNatale, Maria (Bob) Winklmann, Manny (Carla) DiNatale, and Jane (late Alex) Gionta. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Betty Sue “Liz” Nerone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his Regis family and friends. Jimmy worked in cosmetology for over 50 years and in doing so, met numerous friends and traveled the world. His work industry kept him into the latest trends and he was truly young at heart. Jimmy had a passion for music and the arts, enjoyed movies, reading, frequenting the casino and scratch-offs. He always wore black clothes and proudly wore his fedora. He enjoyed spending his retirement with his talented grandchildren and his friends.
