Alberta Rose Schafer (Papale)

Passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2017 at her home with her family near her side.  Alberta was 98 years old.  Beloved wife of the late Homer Schafer Sr; mother of Diane (Tim) Pittman, Homer (Denice) Schafer, Jr., Elizabeth (Tom) Stilley, Alberta (Pat) Ward, Cheryl (Ken) Aiken, George (Tracey) Schafer. Our mother was blessed with loving grandchildren, Lisa, Jeremy, Jaison, Michael, Jimmy, Cara, Kenny Jr, Jessica and Taylor; Great-grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Jordan, Seth, Anne, Logan and Landon. As a family, we were so very blessed to have had our mother with us so many wonderful years.  She will be missed dearly; but our faith tells us that she is at peace now.  God received his newest angel.

Marcia Nanci

Age 74, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 1st, 2017. She is survived by her husband, James Nanci; son Joshua (Erin) Nanci; grandchildren, Jay and Eli; brother, Darrell Travis; many nieces and nephews; and dog, Cobi. Marcia was born on May 18th, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was a 1960 graduate of Wilmerding High School. She later married James Nanci on August 1st, 1964.

Marcia was an accomplished dog breeder and owner of several dog show champions, including I Have a Dream (Dreamer), the winner of the Working Group at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City in 1990. Marcia truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed cooking, fashion, decorating, reading, chatting with friends and family, and spending time with her two grandsons. She will be forever loved and remembered.

Annunzio R. Stellitano

Age 93, died peacefully, Monday, January 2, 2017, with his sons at his bedside. He was born on January 24, 1923, in Sharpsburg. After marrying Jean (Rinchiuso) in 1964, they resided in the Penn Hills area for over 50 years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 52 years, Jean; his loving sons Michael (Anita), and Leonard (Domenica); cherished grandchildren Isabella and Juliana; siblings Mary Napoli, Theresa Urso, Joe Petrone and the late Mary Procopio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a proud World War II Veteran Serving as a US Army Infantryman in the Philippines and as a member of the Allied Occupation force in Japan. During that time he earned the Combat Infantryman’s badge and The Bronze Star medal. Annunzio worked for the US post Office for 40 years and finished his career in the Penn Hills Branch. He followed our Lord Jesus and was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew’s church in Penn Hills for over 50 years. Annunzio was a humble and loving person who left a legacy of faith to his children.

John Ivan

Age 95, of Penn Hills, on January 1, 2017. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years Phyllis (Naylor); father of John N. and G. Paul Ivan; grandfather of Paul Martin Ivan; brother of Lorranie Hanson and the late Helen Cross, Mary Meyers and Ann Hubert; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. John was a former employee of Westinghouse. Age 76, of Penn Hills, passed on her birthday December 31, 2016. Preceded in death by her sibling Rosemary Chalfant. Survived by several cousins and friends.
