Of Monroeville, formerly of Penn Hills (Rosedale), on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Daughter of the late Angelo and Cecelia (Rifugiato) Tomaino; beloved sister of Mimi Tomaino, niece of Cornelius (Kathy) Rifugiato; also survived by  many cousins and special friend Sara Stock.

John E. McGuirk

On my fathers 100th birthday he entertained family and residents at Seneca Manor with his rendition of God Bless America for the last time. John “Old Jack” McGuirk passed away peacefully on Sunday May 28, 2017. He left us all with wonderful memories through his kindness and humorous stories but especially his music.

Reflecting on all these gifts passed to all he met, to his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren he will be thankfully remembered for his gift of life.

Beloved husband of the late June T.; father of Bonnie Fogle and Don McGuirk; grandfather of John and Dave Fogle, Rachel and Kevin McGuirk; great-grandfather of Sean, Max, Sara, Brenden, Liam, Jackson and Adam. In lieu of flowers please acknowledge contributions to a charity of your choice.

Florence B. Shields

Age 89, of Penn Hills, on May 14, 2017.  Florence is survived by her husband James E. Shields, Jr., son Robert D. Niekum, stepdaughter Linda C. Andrews: sons James E. Shields III and Bill Shields: and sister Helen Miller.

Florence worked as both a secretary and a bookkeeper.  She was an avid swimmer and belonged to a local swim club.  She sewed clothes for her children and created art through needlepoint.  Florence and her husband, Jim, were active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Penn Hills.  Florence was responsible to clean the church’s apartment, used by families of severely ill children hospitalized in Pittsburgh for medical crises.  Following the end of the Vietnamese conflict, Zion sponsored four friendly Vietnamese sailors who were sent from San Francisco to a Pennsylvania military camp. Phat Nguyen was welcomed into the Shields’ home and lived with the family for five years.  Services will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 4 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 11609 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, PA  15235.

 

Robert P. Bellamy
Age 96, of Penn Hills, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth R. “Betty”; father of Bonnie (William) Weimer, John (Sharon) and the Late Terry Bellamy; grandfather of Lyn (Michael) Huffman, William Weimer, Nicholas (Kathy) and Neil (Kira) Bellamy; also survived by three great-grandchildren. Service and Interment Private.

Age 87, of Penn Hills, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Howard Kelley, Jr.; mother of Daniel (Pam) Kelley; Cindy (Jim) Mathieu; grandmother of Michael Kelley, Jimmy (Amy), Ryan (Megan), Braeden (Kelly) Mathieu, Dana Rengers, and Julie and Alec Holloway; great-grandmother of August and Bejoux Erbes, Cullen Kelley, Kaleb, Brooke, Adelyn, Brandon, and Aubrey Mathieu and Canyon Rengers; sister of Ralph Hathaway.
