Madeline “Madge” Evanosky

Age 94, a resident of Penn Hills for more than 60 years, passed away surrounded by her three loving grandchildren Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Concordia at Rebecca Residence skilled nursing facility. Madeline, or Madge, as she was known to friends and family, was born October 30, 1930 in Pittsburgh’s Southside neighborhood as the eldest child of parents Nicklaus Hlawka and Nellie Misinski.

Madeline met the love of her life, Theodore (Ted) Evanosky one day in the Southside after he tipped his cap to her as he passed her on the street, and they were married in 1949 at St. Peter’s church and shortly thereafter moved to Penn Hills to raise their family.

Madeline worked in the Penn Hills school system as a cafeteria worker and she extensively volunteered her time throughout her life to benefit veterans and disabled veterans causes such as Sharing & Caring Inc., Soldiers & Sailors and at the Pittsburgh VA. Madeline had a love of nature and of travel and was very active in her grandchildren’s lives.

Madeline was preceded in death by her husband Ted and their two sons Mark Richard and Gregory Todd Evanosky as well as brother John and sister-in-law Marjorie. Madeline is survived by daughter-in-law Patti Evanosky and by her three grandchildren Kayla Bradshaw, Brian Evanosky and Theo Forrester, great-grandchildren Grayson Bradshaw and Eli Evanosky and many nieces and nephews.

Friends received in William F Gross Funeral Home, LTD., 11735 Frankstown Rd. (at Rodi Rd.), Penn Hills on Monday, October 27, 2025 for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2pm.
