Bernadette “Bernie” A. Nichols
Age 84, of Penn Hills, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020. Beloved wife of the late George W. Nichols; mother of William (Gail), Marie, Paul (Lenka), Michael (Ann), Mark (Jamie) Nichols; grandmother of Ben, Sarah, Sam, Julianna, Emily, Tessa, Tomas, Anna, Michael, Amanda, Katie, Matthew; sister of Francis (Dolores) Szatkowski, Joseph (Eleanor) Szatkowski, the late Bernard (surviving Loretta) Szatkowski, and Mary Szatkowski; also survived by numerous other family and friends. She dedicated her life to the Church and being a delivery room nurse at St. Francis Hospital. She served as a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Ladies of Charity for St. Bartholomew Church in Penn Hills. She was also active in the Pittsburgh Cursillo. Bernie was grateful enough to receive special care from her granddaughters, Julianna and Emily. Friends received at William F. Gross Funeral Home 11735 Frankstown Rd. (at Rodi Rd.), Penn Hills on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral Prayers will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew Church at 10 a.m. We will be following COVID-19 State guidelines.
