Helen Vasko

Age 94, of Verona, originally of Regent Square, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Bernard Vasko; mother of Larry (Chris) Vasko and Judy (Jim) Hopper; grandmother of Kate Vasko, Tara (Dennis) Hopper-Rice, Dan Vasko and David (Kristen) Hopper; great-grandmother of Emilia and Zachary Rice; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She retired from Bell Atlantic after working there for many years. She loved to play piano and had a love for people and the Lord. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15224.

James “Junior” Wesley Kennedy

Age 65, of Sharpsburg passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020. Beloved father of Zachary (Nicole) Kennedy and Jake (Lauren) Kennedy; grandfather of Roman, Brayden and Sophia; brother of John (Judy) Kennedy and Tammy (Sam) Guffey; also survived by countless meaningful friends. James was a proud U.S. Army Veteran.

Age 35, of Pittsburgh, but considered San Diego his home, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020. Survived by his children; Jewely Andre-Wright, Clayton Andre-Wright, Jacob Wright, James Wright, Jr., and Joseph Wright; their mother Rebecca Wright; parents Robert J. (Rita) Fiore and Jeannette (Gary) Lyons; brother Robert J. Fiore and sister-in-law Katie Gardner; also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Margaret Roberta Nese

Passed away peacefully in her home on Friday July 3rd, 2020. Although she lived in Pittsburgh much of her life, she grew up with two sisters and four brothers in Lumberton, MS. To the world, Roberta was kind, generous and most importantly forgiving. To those who knew and loved her, she was simply Gram and she wore that title with pride.

At an early age, Roberta had dreams of becoming a stewardess so she could travel to new places. She found a better dream when she met the love of her life, Bud, became a mom and grandmother and still got to see much of the world.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Anthony Nese, Jr.; parents, Braxton and Elnora Jones; three brothers B.B., Cecil and Jimmy Jones; and sister Dorothy Jones.

She is survived by her children Kathy Jo Nese, Debbie Ann Nese and Joseph Anthony Nese, III; her grandchildren Joie, Niki (Mark), David, Anthony (Antoinette), Alysha(Ric), Angela (Frank); great-grandchildren Julia, Aubrey, Anthony Jr., Chase, Carmella, Parker, Scarlett and Valentina; A sister Mary and Brother Roland(Shirley) and host of nieces and nephews

In the end, she fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.

Michael A. Messina

Born February 1933, in Burgettstown, PA passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020. Son of Ralmondo and Calogera Messina, immigrants from Sicily, Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Peter J. Messina. Michael was a graduate of Central Catholic high school in 1951, he then attended Duquesne University and later the school of St. Philip Neri, Haverhill, MA where he studied classes of languages, Latin and Greeks. He received a Liberal Arts degree from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. He also attended St. Vincent Seminary and studied Theology. Mr. Messina served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. Mr. Messina was a member of St. John Fisher Parish, Churchill. He worked in various sales positions for 6 years, then worked as a taxi driver for Yellow Cab for 26 years.
