Zackery D. Sheets

Age 19, of Penn Hills, is now resting peacefully with God. He leaves behind his beloved parents Jeffrey A. Sheets and Shannon Sheets; his brothers Matthew and Daniel Sheets; grandparents, James W. and Toni Ash and the late Benjamin and Linda Tisdale; aunts Tracy (Donnie) Pinson and Michele Skaggs; he also leaves behind numerous cousins and friends.

Charles Russell “Chuck” Banker, II

Of Penn Hills, passed away at his home on April 13, 2018. He preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Charles Banker, and brother Jack Shuttleworth. He is survived by his wife Christine A. (Mitchell) Banker; daughter Laura A. (Stephen) Bowen; and grandchildren, Darby, Charlie and James. Charles was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 34 Years. Charles served in the United States Navy. He served four years active duty as an engineman on the submarine tender the USS Howard W. Gilmore (AS-16) and on the destroyer escort the USS Kretcher (DE-329). He also served two years inactive duty after returning home from deployment.

Charles will be laid to rest on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at the National cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA

Justan R. Mackowski

Age 39, of Cheswick, formerly of Penn Hills, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Beloved son of Anna Marie “DeDe” and the late Walter Robert Mackowski, Jr. brother of Danny Weitzel and Amy Jo Chiera; also survived by nieces and nephews. Justan was the MDA poster child for western Pennsylvania and was a friend of Jerry Lewis, Bill Cardille, Bruno Sammartino and many of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

William E. Kay
Age 67, of Penn Hills, on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Sherree; father of Tracy Zavolta, Amy Williams and Heather Kay; grandfather of Brandon, Alex, Carmella, Nathan, Nicolette, Joey and Trinity Rose; great-grandfather of Peyton brother of Rudy and Timothy Kay; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Carol L. Kasserman

Carol passed away in her sleep at her home Sunday morning, April 8, 2018. Carol was born September 24, 1935. She was the only child of Carl Kasserman, D.D.M. and Margaret B. Kassermen, M.S.W. She graduated from Penn Hills High School and worked as an accountant.

20 years ago, Carol was the first resident to move into Beatty Pointe Village in Monroeville. She enjoyed her time there participating in many activities offered by the facility. She also enjoyed outings to the Symphony, science center, aviary and museum. But her favorite past time was playing with and enjoying her lovable cat, Tiger. Carol will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, gentle woman.
