Age 77, of Penn Hills, born, September 1, 1940, passed away, June 20, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Mary McKeown; father of Carole McKeown and Donna (Matt) Cogley; grandfather of Nicole and Michael Rengers; also survived by his good friends at beechtree commons..

Dorothy M. Gaus
devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died peacefully on June 15, 2018 at her home in Penn Hills at the age of 90.  Born Dorothy Marie Markum on September 15, 1927, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late John J. Markum and Jennie (Konchan) Markum.  Dorothy dedicated her life to her husband and family and was cherished by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl J. Gaus, Jr., sisters Pauline G. Markum and Betty J. Markum, both from Johnstown, son Daniel J. Gaus, Pittsburgh, and daughter Judith A. Rassias, Pittsburgh.
Dorothy is survived by these children: Paul J. Gaus of Penn Hills, Thomas A. (Jennifer) Gaus of Plum, Richard E. (Dorothy) Gaus of Greensburg, Janet G. (Mark) Schepcoff of TX, Ruth A. Gaus of CA, Susan D. Podobnik of Plum; these grandchildren: Neil, Andrew, Joshua & Chelsea Gaus, Sara, Michael & Anna Schepcoff, Shaelyn & Travis Watson, Sharon & Daniel Podobnik; and great-granddaughters: Scarlette & Evelyn Gaus.
Friends will be received at the William F. Gross Funeral Home, Ltd., 11735 Frankstown Road  (at Rodi Rd.), Penn Hills, Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral prayers will be Monday at 11:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian burial at Saint Bartholomew Church at 12 Noon.  Dorothy will be interred with her dear husband at the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville, PA.

Joan M. Honsperger (Anschuetz)

Age 64, of Penn Hills, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018. Beloved wife of Douglas; mother of Sabrina (Bob) George, Michael (Debbie), and Kenny Honsperger; grandmother of Gwendolyn, Abigail, Bethany, Breanna and Isabella; sister of Mary Anne (the late Bryce) Davis and Donna (John) Roney. Richard P. Arturo

Age 87, of Churchill, died peacefully in his sleep on June 14, 2018. It was the 66th wedding anniversary of his marriage to his late, beloved wife, Joanne Arturo. They had honeymooned in Erie, Pa, and often visited there in the autumn of each year. Born in Lawrenceville in 1930, he lived in Stanton Heights, Penn Hills (1960 – 2000), and Churchill. In 1949, he began his career as a Buyer for the Joseph Horne Company. He went on to work in television and luggage sales during the store’s ownership of Lazarus and Macy’s, always at their flagship location in downtown Pittsburgh. He retired after 43 years and went on to use his skills as a craftsman. He was an expert carpenter and electrician, doing small construction jobs building decks, porch roofs, and room additions while working with friend and contractor Anthony (Cus) Castelli. He was a Korean War veteran (stationed in Germany) and an expert marksman, having led Central Catholic’s Rifle Team in the late 1940s, and often winning his Company’s marksman competitions while in Germany. He was a wine connoisseur and enjoyed visiting wineries around the world to add to his impressive collection. He was much appreciated for his uncanny ability to choose the perfect wine with each meal. He was a loving father and is survived by his children Christine (Bahram Mahbod), Jack (Heidi), Rick (Audrey), David (Christine Camsuzou), and Jeffrey, grandchildren Jonathan Arturo, Lindsey Arturo, Eugenie Arturo, and Andrea Arturo.

Friends will be received at the William F. Gross Funeral Home, 11735 Frankstown Road Pittsburgh, PA 15235 Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Prayers Tuesday at 9:30am. Mass of Christian Burial at St John Fisher Church 10 a.m.

 

Veronica “Verne” H. Litzinger

Age 87, of Penn Hills, on Monday, June 11, 2018. Beloved wife of the late John R.; mother of JoAnne (Mac) McElligott, Janice Israel, Joel (Cheryl), Jeffrey (Susan), Jay and the late John, Jr. and Capt.
