James Pagane

Passed away on April 19th 2019, at the age of 77. After, years of battling heart disease, he died at Allegheny General Hospital with his beloved wife and children by his side. He is survived by his wife, Jean Pagane, his two children Jean McGrath (Philip) and James Joseph Pagane, 4 grandchildren, Mark Moreno (Christina), Melissa Moreno Weathers (James), Carlie Anderson (Justin), Jamie Carr (Leo) and 6 great grandchildren. He also was survived by 5 of 8 siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved friends and relatives. Jim was loved very much and will be missed by many.

Gary C. Gaiser

Age 48, of North Shore, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019. Beloved father of Jackie Gaiser and the late Jacob Gaiser; son of Charles Gaiser and the late Susan Clites; brother of Linda, Paula, Darin and Janelle.

Virginia D. “Jean” Vacchiano

Age 87, of Penn Hills, formerly of Larimer Ave., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Beloved wife of the late John M. Vacchiano; mother of John C. (Nancy) Vacchiano and Terri (Dan) Ehmann; grandmother of seven; great-grandmother of several; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was very proud to be a meter maid for the city of Pittsburgh and a member of the democratic party in Penn Hills. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to help with the funeral costs.

Lucille “Grandma Lu” Agate


Age 94, of Penn Hills, passed on to glory on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 with her loving family by her side.   The beloved wife of the late Robert Agate; mother of Bob (Marlene) Agate, Ed (the late Linda) Agate, Gary (Carol) Agate, Jayne (Steve) Flowers, Duane (Kim) Agate; grandmother to 19 and great-grandmother to 50; also survived by sister Dorothy Highberger, brother Al Abraham and preceded in death by her brother Jack Abraham.  
Lucille was a homemaker.  She was the kind of mother who put her family above herself. A loving and thoughtful Grandma who loved spending time with her family!  Her love for Christ was evident daily in the way she cared for others with a quiet and gentle spirit.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 12th from 6-9 at William F. Gross Funeral Home

A memorial service will be held in Lucille’s honor at 11a.m. Saturday, April 13th, at First Reformed Presbyterian Church 12900 Frankstown Rd Penn Hills, 15235. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Elizabeth (Mason) McKelvey

Of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully at the age of 97, in her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, April 4, 2019. Loving wife of 59 years of the late Joseph McKelvey and devoted mother of John and Charles McKelvey and Joyce McKelvey Mull; proud grandmother of David and Matthew McKelvey; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, she graduated from Westinghouse High School and later with a nursing degree from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing. She served as an operating room nurse at the US Naval Hospital in Philadelphia during WWII.  She was a longtime member of Mt. Hope Community Church and the local Crescent Hills Civic Association. Her favorite pastime was cooking and the family will sorely miss her homemade pies. Family and friends received at the William F. Gross Funeral Home, Ltd., 11735 Frankstown Rd (at Rodi Rd) Penn Hills Saturday 10 a.m.-12 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12 p.m. followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
