Florence W. “WYONNE” Smith

 

Age 96, of Penn Hills, on Friday, August 1, 2014. Wife of the late Wilson Smith; mother of Roy (late wife Mary Alice) Smith, Marsha Badali, and Richard Smith; grandmother of Jeffrey and Robert Smith; also survived by two great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

 

Friends received in William F. Gross Funeral Home, Ltd. 11735 Frankstown Rd. (at Rodi Rd.), Penn Hills, where a service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. visitation MONDAY ONLY 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

 

 

Dennis G. Kociban

 

Dennis Kociban passed from this earth on 7/30/14 in Penn Hills. He was pre-deceased by his father John “Jerry” Kociban and mother Genevieve “Jean” Kociban. He is survived by his sons Christopher Kociban and Matthew D Hoffman; sisters Nancy, Donna, Andrea, and Carolyn; Desiree Kretzschmar mother of son Christopher; adopted daughter Zoila Eggers and her family; Niece Kelley (Daren)Franklin and family Daren Jr., Cameron, and Savanna; and cousins on both sides of the family in Ohio, Pittsburgh., and Philadelphia. Dennis graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1966, was an outstanding student, and excelled in wrestling and gymnastics. Dennis always enjoyed hanging with his buddies, chipping golf balls in the front yard, throwing football, and generally analyzing and critiquing all aspects of life. He was granted a wrestling scholarship at and graduated from Purdue Univ. He furthered his education at Carnegie Mellon Univ. and ultimately pursued a career in the investment industry. The family extends deep thanks and gratitude to all who shared their love and care with Dennis throughout the course of his illness. His doctors, nurses, and other health care providers travelled a journey with him that expanded their relationships with medicine and hope in directions they otherwise would not have known such measure of human tenacity. Samuel F. Amato

Age 74, of Penn Hills, on Saturday, July 19, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Carole;  father of Lisa Marie (Carl “Butch”) Lang , Gina (Robert) Hobrat; grandfather of Christopfer, and Denis Lang and Justin Hobrat.

Sam and his late wife Carole took much pride in their business, Amato’s Nursery, which they owned and operated. By working together and building their business, they got the chance to watch it blossom and share in something they both loved and enjoyed.

Richard B. Sanderson

Age 51, of Penn Hills, on Friday July 25, 2014. Son of James and Elizabeth Sanderson; brother of David (Erin), Stephen and Douglas Sanderson; also survived by nieces and nephews. Mr. Sanderson was a member of Penn Hills #6 Fire Department

Age 51, of Braddock, Peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Son of the late S. Franklin and Luanna Scialabba; brother of Beth Damp, Judy Mazzitelli, Chris (Mary) Scialabba; longtime companion of Lynn Shreffler; also survived by
two nieces and two nephews.
