George Andrew Hill

Born in Marion, Ohio, August 25, 1943, to the late Ralph E. Hill, Sr. and Ida Loree Walker-Hill. George was the fourth of seven children. He was preceded in death by both his parents and oldest brother, Ralph E. Hill, Jr.

While his earlier years were spent in Marion much of George’s adult life was spent in California before relocating a number of years ago to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After an unexpected illness George A. Hill departed this life on November 21, 2021.

George was often referred to as “Georgie” and jokingly as “Dean” during his early childhood. He was educated in Marion’s public-school system. While growing up George fished, hunted, and played baseball. As a Little League Pitcher his left-handed speedballs and strikeouts were often the talk of family and friends. George was a skilled hunter, but he loved to fish. Some of George’s more memorable fishing outings were spent on Lake Arthur along with his brother, Earl, and during what almost became annual family fishing outings in Florida. Some of George’s biggest smiles came when he landed a seven-foot sailfish, hit the sky at dawn in a helium-filled balloon, watching sports, and just fishing and hanging out with his brother,
Earl.

In California, George was employed as a Laborer and for a number of years he was a Union Steward-Longshoreman/Teamster. George is survived by his five siblings: Shirley Weathington, Naples, Florida; Juanita Hill, Sacramento, California; Earl Hill, Verona, Pennsylvania; Marilyn (Joseph) Sutton, Naples, Florida; and Deborah (Vernon) Carter, Yakima, Washington. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of cousins and friends. George will truly be missed by his family and friends.
