Theresa L. “Terri” Kosarich

Josephine “Jay” Stagno

Age 92, of Irwin, formerly of East Liberty, on Saturday, June 4, 2016. Former wife of the late Anthony C. Stagno; beloved mother of Theresa (Peter) Barry, Anthony (Patricia) Stagno, Jr., Annette Stagno (Fiancé John Ruggieri); grandmother of Shareen Barry Jordan, Shawn (Michelle) Barry, Amy (Andy) Bokanev, and Kari Stagno; great grandmother of Samuel Joseph Jordan, Mara Josephine Bokanev and Isabella Marie Barry; daughter of the late Antonio and Modestina Venturino. Sister of the late Antoinette Damiano and Vincent (surviving spouse Mary Helen) Venturino. Josephine was a former secretary for the Ladies Spigno Society, a member of Super Seniors, Retired from Stagno’s Bakery in Pittsburgh. Jay also enjoyed crocheting, visiting casinos, playing cards, baking cookies, using her kindle and most importantly spending time with her family. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the family for distribution to organizations of Jay’s wishes.

Thomas J. Maxwell III

Age 73, of Penn Hills, on Friday, June 10, 2016. Beloved husband of Carol for 50 years; caring father of William Thoma and four foster children; brother of Jerome (Gloria) Maxwell and the late Clara Lang; Uncle of Jeffrey Maxwell, Jana Maxwell Shaun and Kimberly Tyborowski; brother in-law of Randy (Dorothy) Tyborowski. Thomas was a member of the sheriff’s Department in many capacities for over 40 years and was friends to everyone. May you rest in peace Tom.

Theodore “Ted” Evanosky

Age 92, a resident of Penn Hills for nearly 60 years, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Forbes Regional Hospital.

Theodore, or Ted as he was known to his family and friends, was born on November 4, 1923 in Spangler, PA the ninth child of Thomas and Eva (Baranich) Evanosky. Ted enlisted in the United States Army Signal Corps on March 15, 1943 and served in the European Theater during World War II from 1944-1946. He participated in the invasion of Normandy while on detached service with the 115th Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division and also with various armored units and Corps of Patton’s Third Army. At the end of the hostilities in Europe, Ted was one of five men given a special assignment with a cover mission of setting up communications for the Potsdam Conference.

After his service, Ted moved to Pittsburgh and was employed by Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation from 1946 to 1984, retiring as a supervisor. Ted’s passion was in helping fellow veterans and he remained active throughout his life in Veterans organizations including Amvets Post 73 (life member; Commander for three terms), Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 76 (life member; Commander for one term) and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6836 (life member; Junior Vice Commander for two terms)

Additionally, Ted served on Congressman Doyle’s Veterans Advisory Committee and on the Allegheny County Veterans Advisory Council. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Action Corps and was the Disabled American Veterans Deputy of Veterans Volunteer Services at the Veterans Medical Center in Oakland. He was also a member of Sharing & Caring, Inc.; University of Pittsburgh Golden Panthers Boosters and served as a representative on the Penn Hills Monument Committee.

On June 11, 1949 Ted married the love of his life, Madeline Hlawka to whom he remained married until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and his two sons Mark Richard and Gregory Todd Evanosky. He is survived by his wife (Madeline), daughter-in-law (Patti Evanosky), grandchildren (Kelly, Brian and Kayla Evanosky) and nieces and nephews.
