Philomene Fischione

Age 93, of Penn Hills, passed away Peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016. Philomene was survived by her, brother Eugene Fischione; preceded in death by her parents Maria and Emedio Fischione; sisters Christine Fischione and Rose Peters, brothers Anthony, Bernie and Vince Fischione.

Philomene graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1942 followed by employment with the Veterans Administration retiring at the age of 57 in 1980. Early retirement enabled her the luxury of traveling the world with her beloved sister Christine.

Foremost Philomene was extremely proud of her Italian Heritage. She treasured her memories of their multiple trips to Italy absorbing the culture returning home with many cherished family recipes which she was then able to prepare for the family.

She was an avid needle worker bestowing many beautiful gifts to family and friends. Philomene also enjoyed many years of sharing her mutual love of attending the Pittsburgh Public Theatre with her sister Christine. Philomene’s prize possession was her Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home where she lived independently still cooking and caring for herself until the age of 92.9 years old. In spite of her advanced years Philomene was very adept on the computer, regularly keeping in touch with beloved family and friends near and far via the internet and facebook.

Philomene devoted many years of her life caring for loved ones in their time of need. Philomenes family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of her dear friends for their continued loyalty, compassion, and support for Philomene in her time of need. The family would also like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for making possible Philomene’s last wish of a grand 93rd birthday a reality, leaving her with cherished memories that carried her to the end.

Martha S. “Marty” Gallagher

Age 96, of Jeannette, on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Wife of the late Donald E. Gallagher; mother of the late Linda and James Gallagher; mother in-law of Jean Gallagher; sister of William Soost; grandmother of Sondra, Cindy and Robert Zilen, and Lauren and Kelly Gallagher; great-grandmother of Dylan and Shawn Klingerman and Elizabeth Thornhill; also survived by six great-great-grandchildren.

Martha A. Flaherty

Age 82, of Penn Hills, on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Wife of Alfred Flaherty; mother of Gail (the late William) Redpath, Lynne (Brian) Fedak, Anne Flaherty (John Lajzo), Joyce Flaherty, and Kate Martin; grandmother of Nicole (Jimmy), Michelle (Josh), Amber (Warren), Zoe and Emma; great-grandmother of Luke. Martha had a love for music, played the bass fiddle and was dedicated to her friends at Penn Hills Free Methodist Church. Friends will be received in William F. Virginia M. "Ginny" Daer

Age 89, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Masonic Village in Sewickley, PA; formerly of Wilkinsburg and Penn Hills. Beloved daughter of the late William J. and Alice M Daer; sister of William Richard (Dick) Daer, and June D Long. Survived by her nieces, Debra Long Gschwender and Christine Daer Howe, several nephews, two cousins, and many close family friends, especially Joe and Charlene Bach, and their daughters, Jessie and Ali.

Virginia was employed as a Secretary at Duquesne University School of Nursing. She was a member of the South Avenue United Methodist Church, Wilkinsburg, PA for many years. She was a Past Matron of Orient Chapter No. 35, order of the Eastern Star for over sixty (60) years; and held many Grand Chapter of PA appointments during her years of service. Virginia was a volunteer with the Masonic Village of Sewickley and the American Cancer Society.

Age 92, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Russell E. Angelo; mother of Denise M. Angelo; sister of the late Anthony, August, Mary, Thomas, Frank, Rose, Josephine, Helen and Lucille; aunt of Gloria Newcomer, Frank Magri and several late nieces and Nephews; also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
