Gregory Daniel Ambrose

Age 44, of Arlington VA, originally from Pittsburgh PA, died on May 3, 2016. Greg is survived by his parents; Gregory J. and Rosemarie Ambrose; he is the brother of Michelle (Paul) Kontos, Daniel and Joshua Ambrose; uncle of Marissa Bosh and Konstantinos Kontos; also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. Greg graduated from The George Washington University with a Master’s Degree in Information Systems Technology, Management of Information Systems, including Chief Information Officer Certification. Greg was Chief Information Officer for the Department of Homeland Security, Chief Information Officer for the Department of State, Deputy Chief Information Officer of product development for the Department of Veteran Affairs, Systems Engineering Chief/Systems Development Lead for the Department of Defense. In 2013 Greg earned a Federal 100 award for his work as Chief Information Officer of the Department of Homeland Security Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology program, whose successor is the Office of Biometric Identity Management.

Antonio D’Onofrio

Age 87, of Penn Hills, peacefully departed into the loving hands of our Lord, Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to the late Mafalda M. D’Onofrio (Adriano). He came to the U.S. from his hometown, Coreno, Italy, he is the son of the late Ottaviano and Maria Palma D’Onofrio; brother of Rosa (Giovanni) Viccarone and the late Giuseppe (Angela) D’Onofrio; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ernest (“Ernie”) Frederick Tretow, Sr.

Longtime resident of Wintersville, OH, went home to God on April 12, 2016.  He was preceded in death by Albert W. and Katherine L. (Lynn) Tretow, his parents; Dorothy Francis Tretow, beloved wife; Marjorie Siebert Stokes, sister; and Mae and Ray Chellinsky whom he loved as family. Ernie is survived by his children, Joyce Tretow, Laura Markowitz (Nick), and Ernest F. Tretow, Jr., his grandchildren, Kathleen, Rachel, and Emily, and great-grandchild Abel.

Ernie was a longtime member and former Chairman for the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh, a longtime member of the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh, and a longtime member and former President of the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Chicago 1991). Ernie was a longtime member of Wintersville United Methodist Church. Ernie was a graduate of Peabody High School, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and a veteran of the Korean War. Ernie was Chief Chemist for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel until he retired in 1984.

Age 81, of Sun City Center, FL formerly, of Penn Hills, on Friday April 8, 2016. Beloved husband of 49 years of Beverly “Fritz” Phillips; brother of Jerry (Marilee) Phillips and Janet Stoer; also survived by nieces and nephews Mr. Phillips was a nuclear engineering manager employed for 40 years at Bechtel Bettis.
